Hernia | When To Worry | Parents בקע בילדים

Watch as Parents Magazine shows when to worry about a hernia! Any time an organ inside the body pushes through an opening in the abdominal wall, it's called a hernia. Your baby may be experiencing a bulge near his bellybutton, a swollen testicle, or a lump in his groin area. This spot will increase in size as your baby coughs, cries, or has a bowel movement. While hernias are almost always painless, there are two common types in babies: umbilical and inguinal. The umbilical hernia will appear during the first few weeks or months of his life, just around his bellybutton. Your doctor will examine it, but it will most likely heal on its own. The inguinal hernia is especially common in premature babies. A swollen testicle or groin lump may require minor surgery. If the baby hernia is suddenly red or painful, call your pediatrician right away. A trapped bowel may need immediate repair.
