Today I'm going to be answering the question what is encephalitis and how not to get it.'
Encephalitis really is inflammation in the brain area. Now Inflammation itself is the body's way to deal with a problem. It usually brings about redness on the skin, possibly swelling and pain.
Some examples of this would be the swelling with a sprained ankle, the bump with a pimple and the pain with arthritis.
As you can imagine this swelling in the brain region isn't good and can bring about some nasty symptoms.
To start with since something wrong is happening to the brain someone is likely to experience a headache, a fever probably will occur, fatigue and not feeling well. These symptoms are common with the general flu.
Next the signs and symptoms get worse. There could be confusion, a headache that is much more painful, wanting to vomit and actually doing it, problems with speech or with listening and hallucinations. Eventually as the brain region is affected a person could have seizures, experience a coma, and yes death could happen.
I recently did a blog post about a condition called meningitis, which is inflammation of the brain as well. You might be thinking they are the same thing. The fact is meningitis is the inflammation of the men-in-ges, which is the outer protective layer of the brain.
Encephalitis on the other hand infects the brain itself. It is possible for someone to have both ailments, in which case they are in serious trouble.
At this point your probably wondering how in the heck someone gets encephalitis. We know it's caused by a germ and this really opens the doors to a lot of possibilities. For starters a person could get it through a mosquito bite. West nile virus is a virus that might bring about this condition, but the good news is that it's very rare.
Only 1 out of 100 mosquitoes in an area that might have a dead bird actually have the virus. The dead bird is how they get the virus. If someone is bitten by that same mosquito only 1 out of 100 people get seriously ill. Next someone can get through the herpes virus, which causes cold sores but that is also very rare.
Other culprits of this ailment could be lime disease from ticks, the chickenpox, measles and even a bacteria or even a parasite. As you can see a wide range of culprits could cause this problem, however the people that are most at risk would be individuals with a weak immune system.
When it comes to preventing and dealing with this problem strengthening the body's ability to fight off unwanted invaders, really is key. There are many ways to do this and some good places to start would be to live a healthy live with plenty of sleep, eating good food and not doing a lot of drugs.
There are also plenty of herbal remedies and supplements that can make a person's immune system really strong.
