Croup:

• Croup affects children between 1 to 3 years of age
• It's a viral infection


Symptoms to look for:

• Difficulty breathing
• Barking cough
• Hoarse voice
• Sore throat
• Symptoms are more severe during the night than during the
day
• Croup is a contagious condition


Natural home remedy using mustard powder and olive oil:

1. Take 3 tbsp of corn flour
2. Add 1 tsp mustard powder
3. Add 2 tbsp warm olive oil to it
4. Mix it to make a thick paste
5. Wrap this paste in a clean handkerchief
6. Ask your child hold this close to his nose for about 20-30 min
7. Repeat this 4-5 times during the day

• You may even tie this loosely around your child's neck while
sleeping.
• Remember to prepare a fresh mixture the next day.


Natural home remedy using ginger and basil:

1. Take a small piece of ginger
2. Take 2-3 cloves
3. Add to it 6-8 basil leaves
4. Crush the mixture
5. Give a pinch of this mixture to the child
6. Ask him to suck on it slowly
7. Give the remaining mixture, in small doses after every 3 hr

Natural home remedy using lemon juice and honey:

1. Take ½ glass warm water
2. Add 2 tbsp lemon juice to it
3. Add 1 tbsp honey
4. Add 1 tbsp ginger juice to it
5. Mix well
6. Give this drink to the child 2 times a day

Tips:

• Moist air is very helpful during a croup attack
• Make sure child's body stays hydrated
• Smoke may worsen the child's condition
